Uriri Constituency NG-CDF Records Over 12,000 Applications in Online Bursary Drive
The Uriri Constituency’s NG-CDF bursary application window, which opened on January 17 and closed on January 30, attracted a staggering 12,100 applications from students across secondary, tertiary, and university levels.
The fully online process, hosted at http://bursary.uririconstituency.co.ke, marked a significant shift toward digitized public service delivery in the region.
Uriri Member of Parliament Mark Nyamita announced the figures on his official social media platforms, revealing that secondary school learners dominated the applications with 9,280 submissions. Tertiary and university students followed with 1,202 and 1,618 applicants, respectively.

In a statement, Nyamita praised constituents for embracing the digital platform, saying: “Thank you all — the 12,100 learners — for believing in technology. We must now immediately begin the process that ensures fairness.”
The MP emphasized that the next phase will focus on transparent vetting to allocate funds equitably, particularly for vulnerable households.
The surge in applications highlights the growing reliance on bursaries to bridge education financing gaps in the constituency. The shift to online applications, Uriri’s second try, appears to have streamlined access, reducing logistical barriers for applicants across its wards.
Local education advocates lauded the initiative but urged swift disbursement of funds to avert school dropouts. “Timeliness is critical. These students depend on this support to stay in class,” said Margaret Auma, a parent representative in Uriri.
With vetting set to begin, successful applicants are expected to be announced by mid-February. The program aligns with broader national efforts to enhance education access, particularly for low-income families.
