President Ruto Heaps Praise On Supreme Court, Days After Impeaching Gachagua

President William Ruto has praised the Supreme Court of Kenya for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the Constitution, defending human rights, and strengthening the country’s democratic framework.

Speaking during the commemoration of the 12th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s establishment, President Ruto acknowledged the court’s pivotal role in ensuring justice for all Kenyans.

“We commend the Supreme Court for being a firm and faithful custodian of our Constitution, a defender of human rights, a pillar of democracy, and a champion of justice for all,” President Ruto stated.

The President called upon the court to continue its jurisprudential journey with renewed vigor, urging it to remain agile, innovative, and forward-thinking in addressing the complex challenges of contemporary society.

Ruto praises Supreme court

He emphasized the need for the judiciary to adapt to the evolving legal landscape while maintaining its accountability to the Kenyan people.

The event, held at the Supreme Court Building in Nairobi County, brought together prominent figures, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Chief Justice Martha Koome, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Several judges of the Supreme Court also attended the ceremony, underscoring the significance of the milestone in Kenya’s judicial history.

Chief Justice Koome reaffirmed the court’s dedication to upholding justice and the rule of law, pledging to steer the institution towards greater efficiency and transparency.

Since its establishment, the Supreme Court has played a critical role in shaping Kenya’s constitutional democracy, most notably through its decisions on electoral disputes and constitutional interpretations.
