Police Make Huge Discovery in Kelvin Kiptum Case

Three individuals suspected of visiting the late world record-holding marathoner Kelvin Kiptum ‘s home days before his fatal car accident surrendered to police.

Investigation Launched at Father’s Request:

This follows concerns raised by Kiptum’s father, Samson Cheruyoit, who reported the visit of four unidentified men to his son’s residence four days prior to the tragedy. These individuals allegedly did not properly introduce themselves, prompting him to seek an investigation.

Three Detained, One at Large:

On February 14th, authorities apprehended three suspects in Elgeyo Marakwet County. They are currently being held for questioning by the County Criminal Investigations Officer. One individual remains at large.

Suspects Transferred for Further Investigation:

Sub-county Commander Abdullahi Dahir confirmed the arrests, stating that the men were being moved to the County Commissioner’s office in Iten for further inquiries. Additionally, the vehicle used by the suspects during their visit has been seized.

Father Calls for Additional Arrest:

Cheruyoit expressed concerns about the fourth individual and urged authorities to locate and question them as well.

Tragic Accident Takes Lives:

Kelvin Kiptum and his coach tragically lost their lives in a car accident on Sunday, February 11th.

A female passenger sustained severe injuries but survived the crash.

Investigation Ongoing:

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding both the accident and the suspicious visit.

No prior reports about the four men were filed before Cheruyoit raised his concerns.
