Mwalimu National SACCO is among the largest Co-operative societies in Kenya, and extends its dominance to the East African Region.

To join mwalimu national SACCO is simple and the requirements are very flexible.

Most teachers prefer Mwalimu national SACCO to other cooperative societies in the country. This is because members enjoy a wide range of benefits that include: Savings, dividends, loans, salary advances and Burial and Benevolent (BBF) services; among others.


There are two broad categories of members who can join Mwalimu National SACCO; Class A and B members.


These members include:

• The Teachers Service Commission employees in post primary and tertiary institutions, TSC Secretariat and Mwalimu SACCO Society staff.

•Teachers Service Commission employees serving in primary schools with diploma level and above academic qualifications.

•TSC employees in primary schools with diploma level and below, bursars in public and private educational institutions.

•Mwalimu National SACCO members formerly employed and  now working in government ministries/ departments or institutions with check-off systems.

•Spouses of Mwalimu National Sacco members and their children aged 18 years of age and are employment.

•Public and private universities Lecturers

•Teachers employed by Boards of Management, BOMs


Class B members are

•Students pursuing Diploma and degree in education-related studies in technical colleges and universities recognized by the Ministry of Education;

•Members who have withdrawn all their deposits from the SACCO with their share capital intact.

•Students sponsored by Mwalimu Sacco members under Childhope Foundation. They Must be 18 years old and above.


To join Mwalimu National SACCO is easy and straight forward.

You are required to download the Membership application form the SACCO’s website or contact a SACCO representative (delegate) or visit SACCO branches.

You are also required to return a duly signed form to the SACCO offices or pass it to the SACCO delegate for onward transmission.

Minimum Requirements for Members Wishing to Join Mwalimu National Sacco

1.You should be 18 years and above

2.You must be a Kenyan Citizen. Ordinary Kenyan residents re also allowed to join.

3.You must be of sound mind.

4.You must have a clean criminal record.

5.You must be of good standing character.

MEMBERS’ Rights (Both Class A and B)

The members have a right to:

•Receive periodic account statements  for all credit and debit transactions.

•Attend and participate Branch Annual General Meetings, AGMs.

•Elect SACCO delegates or be elected as a delegate of the SACCO.

•Enjoy all SACCO services and products.

•Propose initiatives to the SACCO board for consideration.
